C. J. Caufield is the Central
Regional Director for the State of Mississippi
Department of Health CISM program and works
diligently with some other key individuals developing
the Mississippi Crisis Response Network aimed
at networking crisis response efforts throughout
the state for first responders, medical facilities,
schools, industry, and general population needs.
He is also a member of the National Crisis Response
Team with the American Association of Christian
Counselors. He is currently a student-pastor
with the Mississippi Conference of the United
Methodist church where he also serves as the
Conference Disaster Response Coordinator.
Mr. Caufield holds membership in several organizations
intended to gain further insight in the area
of critical incident stress, psychological first
aid, crisis intervention, and suicide intervention
including the Academy of Traumatic Stress Specialists,
the American Association of Suicidology, the
Green Cross Academy of Traumatology, the International
Critical Incident Stress Foundation, the National
Police Suicide Foundation, and the International
Conference of Police Chaplains. He is a Certified
Trauma Services Specialist through the Association
of Traumatic Stress Specialists. He is a Diplomate
and Board Certified in Expert in Traumatic Stress
(B.C.E.T.S.) with the American Academy of Experts
in Traumatic Stress, and Certified in Homeland
Security (CHS-III) through the American Academy
of Forensic Examiners Institute. He has thousand
of hours of training and responding to many
people in a vast variety of circumstances.
He was awarded the coveted Jefferson Cup by
ICISF for his coordination of providing peer-based
intervention services for the first responders
in Mississippi following Hurricane Katrina.
In February of 2007, he was awarded the "Community
Service Award" in Baltimore, Maryland at
the Ninth World Congress on Stress and Coping
for this same work. He co-presented there as
one of a handful of plenary presenters and is
also a regular column contributor for Officer.com.
