Jeffrey
T. Mitchell, Ph.D., is a Clinical Professor
of Emergency , Health Services at the University
of Maryland in Baltimore County, Maryland and
President Emeritus of the International Critical
Incident Stress Foundation. He taught elementary
school science for three years. He earned his
Ph.D. in Human Development from the University
of Maryland. After serving as a firefighter /paramedic
he developed a comprehensive, systematic, integrated
and multi-component crisis intervention program
called "Critical Incident Stress Management."
He has authored over 250 articles and 10 books
in the stress and crisis intervention fields.
He serves as an adjunct faculty member of the
Emergency Management Institute of the Federal
Emergency Management Agency. He is a reviewer
for the Journal of the American Medical Association,
Psychological Reports: Perceptual and Motor Skills,
and the International Journal of Emergency Mental
Health. He has been honored by the Austrian Red
Cross with the Bronze Medal for his work in Crisis
Intervention. Dr. Mitchell is board certified
in traumatic stress and credentialed as a Diplomate
and a Member of the Board of Scientific and Professional
Advisors of the American Academy of Experts in
Traumatic Stress. He has been approved as a Certified
Trauma Specialist by the Association of Traumatic
Stress Specialists. The United Nations has appointed
him to the United Nations Department of Safety
and Security Working Group on Stress.

Crisis Intervention and Psychological First
Aid
Provides the foundations for providing crisis intervention
services to a broad spectrum of people in distress.
Assisting Individuals in Crisis
Approved by the International Critical Incident Stress
Foundation, this two day course offers detailed information
and practical skills for intervening with and guiding
a person in a state of crisis. Participant manuals and
certificates of completion are available from the ICISF.
Group Crisis Intervention
Approved by the International Critical Incident Stress
Foundation, this two day course provides detailed information
and practtical skills for wirking with large, hetereogeneous
groups as well as small, homogeneous groups after a
traumatic exposure. Participant manuals and certificates
of completion are available from ICISF.
Advanced Group Crisis Intervention
This two day course is apporved by the International
Critical Incident Stress Foundation. It provides detailed
information and practical skills for managaing complex
group crises such as death in the workplace or a suicide
of a colleague. Participant manuals and certificates
of completion are available from ICISF.
Strategic Interventions in Crisis
This is a two day course approved by the International
Critical Incident Stress Foundation. It provides training
in developing strategic crisis response programs. Participant
manuals and certificates of completion are availble
from ICISF.
Disaster Psychology
A course designed to assist organizations and communities
in managing the psychological aspects of disasters.
Customized Crisis Intervention and Stress Management
Courses
