Kathryn M. Verner graduated
from the University of West Florida with a Masters
Degree in Psychology. She is a Licensed Mental
Health Counselor through the State of Florida
and is also certified by the National Board
of Certified Counselors. She completed her certification
as a certified Trauma and Loss Specialist from
the National Trauma and Loss Institute and is
a Board Diplomat of the American Academy of
Experts in Traumatic Stress. Ms. Verner recieved
certification from the American Academy of Bereavement
as a Bereavement Facilitator and is certified
by the American Red Cross as a member of the
National Disaster Mental Health Response team.
Ms. Verner began her work in the field of grief
and traumatic loss over ten years ago as the
Director of Psychosocial Services for the Hospice
of Pasco, Inc., in New Port Richey, Florida.
In 1996, she transferred to the Hospice of Martin
and St. Lucie County, Ms. Verner where she was
Program Director for the Hospice's Youth and
Adults Grief Support Services Program and then
Director for The Harbors, Grief and Loss Center,
providing
community based Traumatic Loss counseling services
and programs for adults, families, and children.
Ms. Verner is dedicated to assisting individuals
who have experienced grief and traumatic stress.
She has worked extensively with individuals
who have suffered through the debilitating effects
of Post Traumatic Stress and has done numerous
trainings and seminars on this topic. She has
established collaborative working relationships
with County Sheriff's Offices, Victim's Advocate
Programs, County Crisis Intervention Teams,
and local schools. She assisted the St. Lucie
School District in developing a countywide Disaster
Aftermath Program and has developed numerous
education and training curriculums for schools
and organizations. She is currently a practicing
psychotherapist, speaker, and trainer.

Workshops, Presentations
and Seminar Topics
Making Sense of Post Traumatic
Stress Disorder
This training/workshop will provide information and
experiential activities that will allow the participant
to obtain insight and understanding into Post Traumatic
Stress. Psysiological reactions and patterning will
be examine and the importance of sensory triggers, flashbacks,
and images will be emphasized as indicators for treatment
and resolution of PTSD.
Crisis Intervention and Debriefing Workshop
This workshop provides information
and experiential learning activities. Participants will
learn the components of Crisis Intervention and specific
objectives and techniques. Specific Do's and Don'ts
and tools to assist in Crisis Intervention including
the Debriefing Process will be the primary focus of
this workshop.
