Lynn A. Fraley, M.Ed., MA
Biography: I am a Board Certified Expert in
Traumatic Stress by The American Academy of
Experts in Traumatic Stress; am a Nationally
Certified Counselor by the National Board of
Certified Counselors, Inc.; I hold a specialty
Board certification in Sexual Abuse. I am licensed
in the state of Washington as a Clinical Mental
Health Counselor and hold my Master’s
degree in Guidance and Counseling from Whitworth
College. I am currently a Doctoral student in
Clinical Neuropsychology and I also hold a Bachelor
of Science degree in Child Development and Family
Studies from the University of Idaho.
My experience as a counselor includes working
with child and adult survivors of all types
of abuse, substance abuse and dependency issues,
divorces & blended family structures as
well as more severe and long-term mental illnesses.
I have spent a number of years as a resident
therapist in a Level III Residential Treatment
Facility as well serving clients on an individual
basis in private practice. I am experienced
in dealing with a variety of issues including
anxiety, depression, borderline personality,
conduct disorder, anger management, domestic
violence, sexual assault & abuse, grief,
post traumatic stress disorder, marriage, separation
& divorce, as well as parenting issues to
name a few.
I have been trained a variety of different
approaches and prefer to take an eclectic approach
that allows me to tailor counseling techniques
to you and your specific situation. I have experience
in Object-Relations, Cognitive-Behavioral, Play
Therapy, Family Systems, Gestalt, Psycho-Drama,
and Guided Imagery. I have experience with large
and small, corporate or private groups as well
as individual therapy.

Workshops:
- Anxiety in the Workplace - Definition
and description of anxiety; its causes and long term
effects. Effective clinical and self management approaches.
- Drug Abuse in the Workplace - Review
of most commonly abused drugs in the workplace; identification
of symptoms, likely causes/scenarios, behavioral traits;
effective intervention and treatment approaches; long
term personal and corporate costs.
- PTSD: Symptoms, Medications and Therapeutic
Options - Definition, etiology and description
of PTSD symptoms; effectice self treatment; effective
clinical interventions, review of medication management,
side effects, clinical effects, chemical interactions,
etc. This presentation is geared specifically to those
who already have a current diagnosis of PTSD and are
moving toward self-management as well as therapeutic
intervention.
- Women and Traumatic Stress - Review
and definition of the most common causes of PTSD in
women; ineffective coping styles most common to women
and why they choose them; reframing the concept of
what PTSD means in terms of long term recovery and
positive outcomes. Medication review. Review of parenting
and relationship topics specifically impacted by PTSD.
- Crisis Response in School Settings: Suicide
at School - This is a series specifically
for all those impacted by a successful suicide on
school property during school hours. One segment each
for Administrative Staff, School Personnel and Teachers,
Students, Families and the Local Community. Each segment
addresses the needs specific to that population, from
initial Administrative response to the incident to
Community support meetings focused on understanding
the event and healing the traumatic response on a
community level.
