Dr. Patrick DeMarco is a
Licensed Psychologist in the State of Colorado.
He hase over 33 years of experience in Disaster
Response. He helped form and command Disaster
Medical Assistance Team of California #3 under
the National Disaster Medical System. This was
the first rapid deployment mental health team
for the Federal Government. He spent 9 years
as the Senior Mental Health Officer for the
National Medical Response Team- Central U.S.
This is a team who specializes in medical response
to Weapons of Mass Destruction. Currently, Ihe
is a Psychologist for National Disaster Medical
System #1 - Operations. He is in the Operations
sections of the National Disaster Medical System
and the Emergency Managment Committee for McKee
Medical Center in Loveland, Colorado. He wrote
the guidelines for the development of Disaster
Response Team in the Mental Health Centers for
the State of Colorado.
He is in private practice in Fort Collins,
Colorado where he specializes in Trauma Stress;
Pain Management; Psychological issues for Bariatric
Patients; Multiple Sclerosis Patients; and Attention
Deficit Hyperactive Disorders.

The focus is on Medical Personnel and Disaster Responders
on understanding the complexities and trauma of responding
to Weapons of Mass Destruction.
Psychological Issues in Responding
to Natural Disaster for Medical Teams: The
focus is on Disaster Responders learning to cope with
deployments to a federally declared disaster and how
to assist others in a forward triage arena.
Trauma in Chronic Pain Patients:
Understanding the complex issues that patients experience
with chronic pain - both psychological and physical.
Emphasis on helping the chronic pain patient learn to
cope with their lifestyle and develop health adjustments.
Bariatric Surgery Patients-
Beyond Surgery: This takes a look at the difficult
adjustments many Bariatric Patients experience prior
to surgery and following the surgery. Factors that helps
establish success and failure is discussed.
Attention Deficit - An Ongoing
Struggle: The focus of this presentation is
on the understanding of the difficulties experienced
by both children and adults with Attentional Deficits
and how to assist them in developing positive self-esteem
and coping strategies.
