Richard Tavernaro

Dr.
Richard Tavernaro has been a high school
counselor for 14 years in Cobb County (suburban
Atlanta), Georgia. During his time as a counselor,
he was selected as county counselor of the year
in 2004. Prior to becoming a counselor, he worked
for several years as a special education teacher
and a counselor at several acute care psychiatric
hospitals working with children and adolescents.
He earned his Ph.D. in psychology from Lasalle
University and is currently pursuing a second
doctorate in Educational Leadership.
He was a member of the development team involved
in the creation and implementation of the Crisis
Response Team for the Cobb County School District.
He still serves on the advisory board and as
a member of the Crisis Response Team.
Dr. Tavernaro is board certified in both traumatic
stress and school crisis response.
