Bob Thompson is a twenty-six
year law enforcement veteran currently serving
as a State Police commissioned Captain. In this
capacity, he acts as Police Administrator with
the responsibility of overseeing police operations
of a special state law enforcement division
charged with homeland security related issues.
In his years of law enforcement, he has worked
assignments covering street patrol, vice, narcotics,
sex crimes, homicide, intelligence, S.W.A.T.,
dignitary protection, crisis/hostage negotiation
and chaplaincy. He has worked two international
Olympic games, one of which was the Atlanta
Olympic Park bombing. He has worked several
Presidential details, been a member of Federal
task forces and worked during the largest natural
disaster in American history, Hurricane Katrina.
Needless to say, he has had an opportunity to
experience the sad side of life throughout his
career.
On a daily basis he has seen the heartache
and loss caused by a suffering world. He has
also seen an opportunity to share the love of
God to a hurting world. It is not the hurt or
loss that we feel that is the problem, but it
is what we do with these feelings that can cause
emotional trauma. As a veteran crisis responder,
Bob has seen the destructive nature of such
events on the human element both physical and
emotional. His focus is on helping people return
to normal following a traumatic event. He believes
that a person can be an overcomer and live life
to its fullest, the way God intended it to be
lived. Bob conducts frequent workshops, lectures
and presentations on emotional restoration.
As an ordained minister of the Lutheran Evangelical
Protestant Church, he founded a ministry with
the purpose of providing spiritual, physical
and emotional assistance to those in need. As
a certified pastoral counselor and police chaplain,
he provides assistance to the law enforcement
community as well as victims and caregivers
of traumatic events.
He possesses a Bachelor Degree with a major
in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration
and a second major in Religious Studies from
Western Illinois University. In addition, he
has an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice
from the University of Louisiana, Monroe. Also,
he earned a graduate certificate from Liberty
University and a two-year Bible school diploma
from Liberty University's Bible Institute. He
currently is a Ph.D. candidate of Concordia
Theological Institute. He is a Board Certified
Expert in Traumatic Stress, Diplomate, American
Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress and a
Board Certified Crisis Chaplain, AAETS.
