Troy
Bastion is a retired Police Officer.
He has served as a Police Officer, Chief of Police,
Deputy Sheriff and Corrections Counselor. As a
Funeral Director/Embalmer licensed in two states,
Troy has extensive experience with traumatic stress
and grief issues. Troy is a member of the Disaster
Mortuary Operational Response Team, a federal
level emergency response team administered jointly
by FEMA, Homeland Security and the National Defense
Medical System. He served three deployments to
Louisina following Hurricane Katrina. Troy is
the current Chair of the Kansas Disaster Response
Committee, through the Kansas Funeral Directors
Association, and is active in many community endeavors,
including Sexual Assault Response Team: Pittsburg
State University, Pittsburg, Kansas. Men Against
Violence Program:Pittsburg State University. Certified:
Acute Traumatic Stress Management, Board Certified
Expert in Traumatic Stress, AAETS.

College Crisis: A Practical Approach to Traumatic
Stress in College Settings
Each Year, college campuses throughout
our nation are faced with traumatic situations. These
may include violence on campus, natural disasters, the
tragic loss of students or staff. Very few institutions
have incorporated a traumatic stress program into their
critical incident plans.

Trauma Response for Emergency Responders: What
We Need To Know Before The Call
This course is intended as a comprehensive
examination of traumatic stress management, particularly
as it applies to members of the emergency response community.
Firefighters, Police Officers, and first response personnel
will gather a wealth of information from this workshop.

Traumatic Critical Incident Response for Funeral
Service Professionals:
As the needs of our communities change,
funeral service professionals are, more than ever, finding
themselves on the front lines of fatality and mass fatality
response. Many mortuary professionals also serve as
coroners and deputy coroners. This workshop will acquaint
the mortuary professional with the theory of acute traumatic
stress management, and practical approaches to assisting
the communities they serve in the aftermath of traumatic
events.
