Dr. Kristina Diener is a clinical
psychologist specializing in violence, trauma,
and dissociation with a particular emphasis
on rape and domestic violence predominantly
pertaining to children and adolescents, and
with a unique focus on child prostitutes and
runaways. Dr. Diener has earned accolades from
Break The Cycle, The American Red Cross, Children
of the Night, and Doctors Without Borders for
her indefatigable efforts working with assault
victims, especially the teen and adolescent
population.
Recognizing that assault survivors suffer
greatly from despair and indignities, Dr. Diener
acted as an advocate for victims and their families.
She has published numerous articles for various
publications, notably Teen Line at Cedar Sinai
Hospital and Divorce Source which featured her
provocative and confrontational article, “Revenge
of the Trophy Teen,” and “Fat Stats:
If He Hollers Let Him Go.” She had the
privilege to serve as a guest lecturer for the
Los Angeles Unified School District and as Lead
Psychological Consultant to Kids Talk: Voices
of Tomorrow, a multi award winning television
forum addressing issues in the teen population.
Dr. Diener is proudly a full member of the American
Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress and is
board certified in rape trauma and domestic
violence. In 1999 she was honored with the Volunteer
of the Year Award from Break The Cycle for outstanding
service and commitment to ending domestic violence;
and in June 2006 she was featured in Mind-Body-Spirit
Fitness Magazine as the Los Angeles Expert Psychologist
in motivation and stress reduction. She is on
the Board of Advisors for O2Max Fitness; Kids
Talk: Voices of Tomorrow; and PathConnect Mentorship
Alliance. She is certified in EMDR and Thought
Field Therapy and practices Cognitive Behavioral/Humanistic
therapy; speaks Spanish and French and is currently
in the process of earning board certification
in American Sign Language. Dr. Diener resides
in Los Angeles.
