Luz Rivera, PsyD. M.S., MaEd, B.C.E.T.S.
PsyD. completed November 2008, received her
Master in Education from the University of Phoenix,
holds a Master in Science from Carlos Albizu
University and works with Intellexi in the area
of child intellectual and emotional development.
She works with parental stress due to having
children born with developmental delays. Luz
is also a consultant.
Luz dedicates time to a program that works
with pregnant adolescent and young mothers she
works from a Biopsychosocial and Spiritual perspective.
In this program, she works with stress do to
learning about the pregnancy and young parent’s
stress do to their age and new role as parents.
She also serves as advocacy and intern at the
House of Representatives, Puerto Rico Legislation,
where she is currently promoting new legislation
in behalf of adolescents’ access to health
service and a new public policy that would give
priority to prenatal care before criminal process.
This change will lower the negative impact and
stress on the adolescent parents.
Internship completed in 2008: Sexual Abuse
Support Program for Children and their Families.
Where she provided individual and group psychotherapy
to sexually abused children and adolescents.
Conduct family therapy and clinical support
in order to help family members cope with the
psychological impact of the sexual abuse. Assessment
of child sexual abuse allegations
Research: Elders on long term care perception
of quality of life. Elders concept of well being
and identity concept. Elders on long term care
existential and psychological concerns. She
has presented her research at local and international
Congress (Berlin, Russia, UK, Dominican Republic,
USA and Puerto Rico)
Research: Mandala; expressive art as a therapeutic
approach with adolescent victims of trauma and
Developmental stress versus stress due to pregnancy
in Puertorican adolescents.
She has worked with domestic violence victims
since 1991 in Ecuador and Puerto Rico. She has
received training in working with both populations.
She has worked with sexual abuse victims since
2004.
Luz has received numerous awards; Doctor Clinical
Psychology Distinguished Student, 2008. Collegiate
All- American Award 2007, 2006 and 2004; Dean’s
List, 2006/ 2007; Who’s Who Among Student
in American College and Universities 2006, 2005
and 2003; Chancellor’s List 2005-2006,
