Dr. Sukey (Susannah) Waller
received her MA in Somatic Psychology from Antioch
University, and her PhD in Psychology from Saybrook
Institute, both in San Francisco, California.
From 1986 to 1989, Dr. Waller developed a program
for survivors of wartime torture and trauma
for the Merced County Department of Mental Health.
The program earned the California State Mental
Health Prevention Award in 1988 for innovative
project development. Dr. Waller directed support
groups, therapy, and service coordination for
Hmong hill tribespeople who had fought for the
United States during the Vietnam War. All clients
had lost a primary family member, had been POWs,
or had witnessed directly the extreme violence
of jungle warfare. The program provided specialized
education for other social service, medical
and school professionals working with trauma
survivors, and chronic PTSD patients. Dr. Waller
designed many publications for these providers,
and became moderately fluent in the Hmong language.
Subsequently, Dr. Waller directed the Deschutes
Children’s Foundation in Bend, Oregon,
initiated the Rosie Bareis Center for Children,
designed programs for J Bar J Youth Services,
and conducted capital campaigns for early childhood
programs, and homeless shelters. She has extensive
non-profit consultancy experience throughout
Oregon.
For 22 years Dr. Waller has maintained a private
clinical practice focusing on body therapy and
counseling. In 2006 she began working with the
youth and families coordinator of the National
Guard to offer more services to military families
in Central Oregon. She is a Military One Source
Provider for Ceridian Lifeworks, and is a member
of their Post Deployment Health Reassessment
Team.
She is a critical incident responder for insurance
companies and Ceridian Military Go Team Leader,
for critical incident response worldwide.
Dr. Waller is one of 200,000 U.S. professionals
selected for the Cambridge Who’s Who 2007-2008,
for professional and community service contributions.
